Direct answer
Show a live walkthrough when the product is a workflow. Show a site when the product is a public offer. Show a deck only for context that cannot run: roadmap, commercial model, team. Do not substitute a montage of unnamed ‘clients’ for a working path.
Google’s people-first guidance is useful here too: original, current, and visible. A demo that cannot be operated is decoration.
What ‘ready to show’ actually means
Ready means: a seeded workspace, a script of three jobs, empty and error states that are honest, and a restore step after the call. It does not mean production data, a public sandbox with open signup, or fabricated metrics on the first screen.
Usability 101 still holds. If the buyer cannot complete a job in the walkthrough, the demo is teaching the wrong lesson.
Website, portal, panel — three demo types
A custom website demo is often the live marketing origin itself. A portal demo is an invited workspace. A panel demo is an operator queue with fake-but-coherent tickets. Do not mix them in one login.
Static marketing sites can be exported and hosted on the edge; authenticated demos cannot. Next.js static export is a fit for the former, not the latter.
A practical sequence
Keep the script shorter than the meeting.
- Pick three jobs the buyer already believes they have
- Seed data that will not embarrass you if screenshared
- Rehearse failure: denied permission, empty list, retry
- Reset the workspace after every walkthrough
- Write what the demo is not: not a quote, not a case study lift

Frequently asked questions
Is kiwiagencies.com the website demo?
It is the live marketing artifact: stack, consent, intake, and editorial system. It is not a client case study and not a portal login.
Do you publish client logins as proof?
No. Proof is a scheduled walkthrough, delivery patterns on /case-studies, and source ownership in the proposal. We do not invent client results.
Should the demo use production data?
No. Use a seeded workspace. Production data in a sales call is an access-control failure, not a flex.
